Something very special happened along the sunny Fort Lauderdale beach this November! The NAES Biennial Conference welcomed educators, administrators, Chaplains, and more to share in the exchanging of ideas and the warmth of the Episcopal community. Thanks to an NAES grant, I was able to attend. The most impactful session I attended was about utilizing picture books to support social-emotional learning in the music classroom. It was great to collaborate with other music educators and learn from the important work they are doing.
Apart from attending the conference, I also presented my research on how to implement Global Competency in curriculum and instruction. The importance of building skills that foster empathy and critical thinking in the minds of our students is very much aligned with Episcopal identity. Teaching others about Global Competency was a powerful experience that I was very proud to be a part of.
My conference experience would not have been possible without the grant I received from NAES. I would like to express my gratitude to the supporters of the NAES’ Annual Fund and the contributions of Episcopal school leaders. Thank you!
