The National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES) is proud to elevate the role of school ministry, both domestically and within the global Anglican Communion. NAES recently reaffirmed this commitment at the 2024 annual general meeting of the Compass Rose Society.
Named for the symbol of the global Anglican Communion—a mariner’s compass representing the spread of the gospel to all points around the world—the Compass Rose Society was established in 1994 in response to the crisis in Sudan. The society empowers parishes, dioceses, and other organizations to support initiatives of the Anglican Communion worldwide. Recent projects supported by the Society include the Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre, Wendy’s School in Cape Coast, Ghana, and the Bishop Ackon Eye Clinic in Ghana.
During the 2024 Annual Meeting, held in London and Canterbury Cathedral, NAES Executive Director David Madison and Peter Laurence, CEO of Anglican Schools Australia, presented on the newly formed Anglican Communion Schools Network (ACSN). This network, of which NAES is a founding member, underscores the important role of schools in the life of the church. The meeting also explored opportunities for Anglican school students to engage with the Compass Rose Society, fostering a deeper understanding of the Communion’s global mission.
Service is a cornerstone of Episcopal identity, and NAES schools are dedicated to building communities that reflect the values of the Kingdom of God. In partnership with Anglican Schools Australia and other Anglican school associations, NAES is committed to supporting the Anglican Communion’s mission of serving those in need around the world.
