Three and Four Year Old Preschool Substitute Teacher

St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School (SSSAS) of Alexandria, VA is looking to hire a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time substitute teacher for our three-year old and four-year old program. The Three and Four Year Old Preschool Guest Teacher will work alongside our specials teachers who teach Art, Religion, Science, and Music to support our youngest students in each class while they are in session. They will also provide support for classroom teachers during lunch and recess. Candidates should be able to establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and implement effective classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and social-emotional growth. The successful candidate will have early childhood experience, or be enrolled in an early childhood education program.

The successful candidate will be required to exercise professional judgment and responsibility in keeping with the expectations of the School’s faculty.

The School accepts candidates with the following minimal qualifications:

(1) Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or the equivalent, Enrollment in an Early Childhood Education program; state certification is not required.

(2) A strong commitment to educating a diverse student body within a caring and creative environment.

(3) Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

(4) Previous teaching experience in an early elementary classroom. (Preschool teaching experience is preferred.)

(5) Strong references who confirm the applicant’s ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
