Spanish Teacher – Part Time

Stuart Hall School, an independent Episcopal day and boarding school serving grades 6-12, seeks a part-time Spanish Teacher to join our dynamic learning community and help build a language program based on Mastery principles. This is an opportunity to contribute to our skills-based curriculum and engage students in an environment that prizes curiosity and intellectual risk taking in the pursuit of knowledge.
Position Highlights
The Spanish Teacher will:
- Teach two sections of Spanish, ranging from introductory levels to Spanish IV (assignments based on experience and ability).
- Implement Mastery Learning principles by providing clear standards, scales, and assessments.
- Integrate technology into instruction by using tools such as Google Classroom.
- Provide timely, meaningful feedback to students.
- Participate in fostering an inclusive and collaborative school community.
Additional Responsibilities (specific responsibilities for part-time faculty determined on a case-by-case basis)
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students.
- Contribute to co-curricular activities such as coaching, clubs, or student groups.
- Support the residential life program (on-campus housing available).
- Engage in school life, including meetings, events, and supervisory duties.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field.
- Experience teaching Spanish as a second language.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge to develop a skills-based language curriculum.
- Interest in engaging beyond the classroom, including coaching or student activities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications (absences will not harm application)
- Master’s degree or higher.
- Experience with Standards-Based Learning and instructional differentiation.
- Proficiency in additional world languages.
- Previous experience in a boarding school setting.
- Experience coaching interscholastic sports
