St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a culturally competent and responsive candidate to serve as a School Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will support students in 4th through 8th grades. The School Counselor reports to the respective Division Principals and is responsible for the following duties:
Essential Functions
- Providing a comprehensive counseling program and teaching for guidance classes in grades 4-8
- Consulting with teachers, parents and staff to support student success
- Sharing appropriate referrals and monitoring student progress (social, emotional and behavioral)
- Supporting the Early Childhood, Lower School and Middle School educational programs
- Serving as a resource for teachers and parents, including providing parent programming opportunities
- Serving on the school-wide CARE team and meeting monthly with grade-level teams
- Collaborating with counselors across all grade levels as students transition between divisions
- Facilitate and design the student programming in the middle school, such as wellness, decision making, peer conflict, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
Preferred candidates will have a degree in guidance and counseling along with a commitment to working in a highly collaborative, collegial environment.
- Masters degree required
- The ability to effectively guide teachers through a variety of student skills, behavior, and developmental processes; and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to develop strong, empathetic relationships with students and their families.
Physical Requirements
This job is performed inside; the noise level can be soft to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, walk, talk, read, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to type, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Schedule
The position is a Faculty position and will follow the typical school calendar. The position will adhere to a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:45pm. The role is full-time, Exempt and benefits eligible.
