Middle School Spanish Teacher

St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking a culturally competent and responsive candidate to teach Middle School Spanish. This assignment would begin January 6, 2025, and continue through the remainder of the school year,    May 30, 2025. The Middle School Spanish teacher will also be an 7th grade advisor responsible for chaperoning an overnight field trip in the spring.

Faculty also contributes to many areas of campus life including serving as advisors, proctoring lunch duty, community time, recess and study hall, and attending weekly chapel.  This position reports directly to the Head of Middle School.

Candidate Characteristics and Qualifications

Candidates should be experienced professionals who embrace working in a highly collaborative, collegial environment and are comfortable incorporating the use of various technologies to support student learning.  The strong preference is for a self-starter, a lively educator with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, master’s degree preferred 
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in Spanish at the Middle and/or High School level; experience working within  independent schools preferred.
  • Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills.

Physical Requirements

This job is primarily performed in a classroom environment; the noise level could be soft to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, walk, talk, read, and hear. The employee could be required to use hands to write, type, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee could occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Schedule

The position is a temporary assignment to begin January 6, 2025 and continue through May 30, 2025. The role has an opportunity to expand beyond the initial time frame.  The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Work will be performed on-site and follow the typical school calendar. The role is Exempt and benefits eligible as determined by the number of actual hours worked per week.
