Head of School

St. David’s Episcopal School is a ministry of St. David’s In the Pines Episcopal Church in Wellington, FL. The school serves 90-100 students in preK-3 through 2nd grade and has been in operation since 1996.

Short description: The Head of School oversees all aspects of curriculum and policies, faculty hiring and evaluation, enrollment, and finances. The position does not include classroom teaching. The Head reports to the school board and the church leadership, and maintains relationships with the faculty, the families, the PTO, the church, and the community.

Qualifications:  Five to ten years of combined experience in teaching and/or school administration with the preschool or primary grades is a must. A commitment to the Christian faith and membership in a local church of any denomination are required. A Florida Child Care Facility Director Credential and a Florida VPK Director Endorsement are required by the State of Florida. A bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education is preferred.

Salary:  $45,000-$50,000 per year, negotiable based on experience.

Start:  Flexible, between August 1 and December 1, 2024.

Terms:  Expected to be on campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days and attend occasional school events such as graduation and PTO fundraisers on evenings and weekends. The school follows a traditional schedule (this year Aug. 12 – May 30) with a week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a week for spring break, and the day of Good Friday, in addition to federal holidays. Summer hours are flexible with two full weeks off.
