St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a culturally competent and responsive candidate to serve as the Early Childhood and Infant Program Principal effective July 1, 2025. The Early Childhood (EC) and Infant Principal is responsible for all aspects of the Early Childhood and Infant programs and is expected to work closely with stakeholders to forward the school’s mission and advocate for the division in a way that enhances both the EC and the entire school community. The EC Principal is a key member of the senior leadership team and will be involved in helping to formulate and execute the school’s strategic initiatives.
Leading with the spirit of collaboration, the Early Childhood and Infant Principal will:
- Meet with the Head of School on a regular basis to keep informed of general programs, activities and share updates
- Serve as a member of the school senior leadership team
- Coordinate with the Lower School Principal, Middle School Principal and Director of Enrollment Management and Director of the Kairos Learning Center, and Director of Student Support Services concerning events, programs, activities and relevant issues.
- Provide support and communication to parents in the division through regular communication, including monthly newsletters
- Ensure compliance with Bright from the Start, as well as all other government standards and regulations established by the State of Georgia and those agencies that examine and accredit the school
- Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director of Explorers to build a robust extended day program designed to engage students with various activities, provide homework assistance and an opportunity to explore creative play
- Supervise in a visible and supportive manner all division faculty and students in both the EC and Infant programs and activities including, but not limited to the following:
- Observing classes
- Serving as a visual presence in all areas of the school, including visiting the High Point campus infant program at least once a week
- Cultivating the division’s tone, culture and climate
- Give frequent feedback to faculty and staff, both informally and formally.
- Overseeing EC teacher websites and class social media pages
- Monitoring Brightwheel (parent app) for the Infant and toddler programs
- Conducting a formal annual evaluation of faculty and programming
- Coordinating hiring, onboarding, retention and termination of staff, alongside the Head of School and HR Director
- Arrange for repairs and maintenance in conjunction with EC Administrative Support
- Plan and conduct divisional faculty meetings, monthly and as needed
- Monitor student conduct and behavior in coordination with the school counseling team
- Oversee and coordinate the EC and infant curriculums alongside the EC/LS Director of Teaching and Learning
- Support enrollment management by attending admission events, including Open House, Student observation days and meeting with prospective students and parents
- Work closely with the School Counselor and Student Support Services to be sure that the needs of identified students are being met
- Oversee the EC and infant program budgets and work closely with the Finance department on expense budgeting and forecasting
- Communicate with the Director of Finance and Operations any program, capital or facility request needs that need to be addressed
- Be an active member on school-wide committees
- Be available and visible at school functions
- Submit updates to the Weekly Warrior and magazine when appropriate
Requirements and essential skills
- Master’s degree required, with 3 to 5 years of experience in school Administration and experience working with young children (birth to age 5) strongly preferred.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Have open-door policy for faculty and parents
- Understand the many nuances of working with Early Childhood students and parents
Physical Requirements
This job is performed inside; the noise level can be soft to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand, stoop, kneel, walk, talk, read, and hear. The employee could be required to use hands to type, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Position Details
The position is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Head of School. The list of duties above is not exhaustive and could include others as assigned by the Head of School. The normal hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm.
