Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Administration:
• Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for residential life, school operations, and student services.
• Supervise and support residential and academic staff, ensuring the highest standards of care and engagement.
• Coordinate with other departments to promote a comprehensive approach to student development.
2. School Leadership:
• Collaborate with the school principal to ensure the delivery of high-quality education that meets the needs of all students.
• Support curriculum development and implementation in alignment with educational standards and student needs.
• Monitor academic progress and work with staff to provide appropriate interventions and support.
• Foster a culture of academic excellence, responsibility, and personal growth.
3. Student Development and Support:
• Lead efforts to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
• Develop and oversee programs that support students’ academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being.
• Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Act as a point of contact for student issues, resolving conflicts and addressing disciplinary matters as needed.
4. Program Oversight:
• Oversee residential life programs, including student housing, activities, athletics and special events.
• Ensure all programs are developmentally appropriate and aligned with Boys Home’s mission.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making improvements as necessary.
5. Staff Supervision and Development:
• Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and mentoring of residential and academic staff.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development to direct reports.
• Facilitate staff meetings and ensure open communication among team members.
6. Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and best practices related to residential life, school operations, and student welfare.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, student progress, and staff performance.
• Promote a culture of safety and well-being, ensuring that all staff and students are trained in emergency procedures.
7. Community Engagement:
• Represent Boys Home of Virginia in the community and at professional events.
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners, donors, and stakeholders.
• Support development and fundraising efforts as needed.
