Position Title: Ignite After School Care Instructor
Reports To: Head of After School and Summer Programming
Work Hours: Monday-Friday from 2:30-6:00 PM, with the exception of school holidays and/or closures
Work Calendar: School year (black out dates may apply)
Ignite After School Care Instructor is responsible for providing oversight, safety, afterschool curriculum, and care to Holy Spirit Episcopal School (HSES) students in the after school program. Ignite Instructors will ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the after school care programming. Responsibilities vary depending on the age of the students but do require planning and executing a program in accordance with the philosophy and policies of HSES, including snack, outdoor activities, and age appropriate games, arts, and craft activities.
Essential Duties
- Provide appropriate classroom supervision of the children, guiding and redirecting their behavior as needed.
- Demonstrates working understanding of the planned daily curriculum and after school schedule.
- Reinforces Holy Spirit Episcopal School’s culture in working with fellow staff members and students.
- Understanding of pick-up and drop-off procedures from classes to carpool.
- Sets up and cleans up materials or supplies utilized for lessons/crafts/games.
- Assist students with toileting needs and personal hygiene, as needed.
- Sorts student work in preparation for crafts to be taken home.
- Retrieves school bags and water bottles so students are ready for pick-up.
- Assists with creation, documentation, and maintenance of student work.
- Maintains technology skills in keeping with the standards of the school.
- Participates in all recommended training programs.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with young children, preferably in an independent school setting.
- Ability to communicate and relate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Dependability and ability to embrace HSES culture and team building.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to participate and oversee outdoor activities.
- Work in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment.
- Physical agility: lift up to 30 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, reach and sit on the floor.
