Session IV: Episcopal 101
- Hilton Houston Hobby Airport Hotel
Whether participants represent parish, independent, cathedral or diocesan Episcopal schools, there are basic facts regarding the governance and polity of The Episcopal Church in relation to its parishes and institutions that heads of school would be well advised to know. The number of constituent groups to which a head of school must relate can be overwhelming: students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, trustees, friends, vestry and parish members, diocesan officials, accrediting agencies, etc. A veteran head of school will share strategies and will answer questions regarding successful navigation of these waters. An important aspect of this session will involve suggestions of where to seek help in effectively relating to each of these constituent groups. |

- Hilton Houston Hobby Airport Hotel

However, expectations surface quickly regarding the head's important role in advancement and development. This session will include practical suggestions for addressing this aspect of a head's duties. |

Session IX: The Importance of Taking Care of Yourself—Against All Odds!
- Hilton Houston Hobby Airport Hotel
Heads of school could be legitimately engaged in work-related activities 24 hours per day, and few people outside one's family would complain. Maintaining the stamina—physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually—to operate at peek efficiency requires intentional and ongoing focus on self-care. This session will outline strategies and practices that veteran heads have found useful in the attempt to "put their own oxygen masks on first!" |
