I thrive in fulfilling my call to ministry in educational contexts in which distinct and diverse religious traditions and spiritual practices are embraced and fostered. Both higher education chaplaincy and spiritual life at Groton School are such environments, and my great joys are cultivating curiosity and openness among students and developing collaborative multifaith teams of colleagues to provide care, and to lead and administer programs. The Episcopal tradition centers my work in the ethics of Love and justice and aligns significantly with educational priorities of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Being attentive and attuned to each community, serving with the spirit and from the heart invites relationship and, in turn, breaks open possibilities for life-giving and liberating love.
The Rev. Allison Read is Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Life at Groton School in Groton, MA.
