Dr. Heath earned his Ph.D at the University of Edinburgh, and holds a master’s in literature from Oxford University. He graduated from James Madison University in Virginia. He and his wife, Dido, also have three children: Harry (15), Annie (13) and Sophie (10).
The appointment of Dr. Michael Heath is the result of a comprehensive search process and community-wide effort led by Search Committee members: W. Leighton Lord III (chair); Michael D. Amiridis; Linda J. Bell, MD; Johnnie McFadden, Ph.D.; Page Morris; Sally McKay; Mary Belser; Butch Bowers; Julie Hicks; Stan Wood; and the Rt. Rev. Andrew Waldo. Parents, administrators, faculty, staff members, and alumni that participated in this very demanding process were also critical to this vitally important selection. The hard work and dedication of the entire Heathwood community has brought to the School a leader with proven strength, experience, and vision.
With the appointment of Dr. Michael Heath, the Heathwood Hall community looks forward to an exciting and prosperous future, one that continues to build upon a sixty-year tradition of inspiring excellence in our students’ academic, athletic, social and spiritual lives.
