NAES Community Outreach to Those Affected by the Wildfires in Los Angeles

The outpouring of love and prayers for our colleagues affected by the wildfires has been truly inspiring. From the moment the fires began, members of the NAES community have reached out, asking, “How can we help?” and responding with generosity and unwavering support. More than 120 chaplains and mental health practitioners have stepped forward to provide pastoral care and counseling to administrators, teachers, and staff in schools across the Diocese of Los Angeles, including Saint Mark’s and St. Matthew’s, which were directly impacted by the fires.

This year’s NAES theme, “Let your light shine” (Matthew 5:16), is embodied in Students Caring for Students, an outreach initiative offering support to students at Saint Mark’s School (Altadena) and St. Matthew’s Parish School (Pacific Palisades) through artwork and heartfelt messages of hope, love, and friendship. Over 1,080 inspirational messages from 20 schools across Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and even Queensland, Australia, have been shared with Saint Mark’s and St. Matthew’s students.

Your kindness and compassion continue to shine brightly, bringing comfort and encouragement to those in need. Thank you for being the light in this difficult time.

We are pleased to announce that Saint Mark’s and St. Matthew’s have new addresses and can now receive your student notes.
