Title:  Middle School Math Teacher

Reports To:  Head of Middle School

Full-Time, 10-month position

All Saints’ is looking for a middle school math teacher with a passion for working with students, a strong background in mathematics, and a depth of experience in teaching. We value candidates who are passionate about middle school, and are innovative and knowledgeable about making mathematics come alive both in and out of the classroom. Successful candidates can facilitate learning by recognizing individual needs and helping students develop in-depth problem-solving and analytical skills in the area of mathematics.

We place a high value on community and seek candidates with excellent interpersonal skills who work well with students, colleagues, and parents. This full-time position will teach, advise a group of 10–12 students, and participate in other responsibilities of being an independent school educator. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a collaborative team.

Curriculum and Program

Instructional Management

  • Create dynamic math lessons that engage, support, and challenge students using a variety of curricula and instructional methods.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and student-centered academic environment that supports diverse learners and focuses on individualized growth. The classroom environment has an atmosphere of trust, consistency, and respect.
  • Develop and utilize learning outcomes for specified curriculum. Maintain strong standards that focus on teaching meaning, problem-solving, and thinking in addition to strong skills.
  • Integrate and use technology to enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Plan instructional activities in collaboration with grade-level colleagues and attend weekly collaborative planning meetings.
  • Teach an elective aligned with the content area or student interest.
  • Demonstrate a passion for subject content, skill mastery, and foster a love of learning.

Student and Team Student Support

  • Manage an advisory of 10–12 students.
  • Plan activities in collaboration with the grade-level advisory team and attend regular collaborative planning meetings.
  • Provide before-school or after-school assistance to students as needed.
  • Understand and implement Student Success Plans with the support of our Learning Support Services Department.
  • Maintain ongoing, respectful, and proactive communication with parents; schedule meetings as necessary with parents to address concerns.
  • Participate in field trips and other curriculum-enhancing activities, including field trips which may consist of overnight class trips.
  • Fulfill student supervision duties as assigned.

Administrative Tasks

  • Prepare grade reports, progress reports, attendance reports, and other such reports promptly and in accordance with school policy or at the request of the division head.
  • Execute all duties promptly, attend meetings (during and after school), and participate in committees as directed by the Head of Middle School or Head of School.
  • Facilitate student clubs before, during, and/or after school as needed.
  • Participate in All Saints’ community activities outside of school hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Education, training, and/or experience in student engagement and differentiation
  • Successful experience teaching mathematics to middle school students and preferred experience teaching first-year high school algebra and geometry
  • Ability to integrate technology to transform instruction and student learning
  • Creativity, passion for the subject matter, and a positive attitude
  • An appreciation for and an understanding of the social, emotional, educational, and developmental needs of learners ages 10–14
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
