Position Description

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Community and Belonging will serve as a strategic leader, educator, and resource in fostering a school culture that values diversity, promotes equity, and ensures inclusion for all students, employees and external constituents.  Partnering with our Executive Director of Community and Belonging and SPSG’s leadership team, the DEI Coordinator will develop and implement programs and initiatives that align with the school’s mission and strategic goals, preparing students to thrive in a diverse and interconnected world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set and achieve DEI goals at SPSG.
  • Work with this same role at St. Paul’s School for Boys, as well as Community & Belonging Coordinators in St. Paul’s Pre and Lower School to initiate programs and conversations across the TSPS campus.
  • Evaluate and improve policies, practices, and curricula to ensure equitable access and inclusivity.
  • Serve as an advisor to SPSG leadership on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Coordinate SPSG affinity group programs and serve as resource and facilitator for affinity group leadership.
  • Teach various electives and/or seminars in the middle and upper school related to diversity and inclusivity topics.
  • Design and lead professional development workshops and/or division meeting programming around DEI topics for employees.
  • Partner with Executive Director of Human Resources in interviewing candidates and helping to onboard new employees with our community and belonging initiatives.
  • Organize events, speakers, and activities to celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive school climate.
  • Partner with teaching faculty to integrate DEI principles into curriculum and pedagogy across all grade levels.
  • Provide resources and support for incorporating diverse perspectives and content.
  • Act as a mentor and advocate for students, fostering dialogue on issues of identity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with admission and enrollment teams to enhance outreach to underrepresented communities.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
  • Report progress to school leadership and the community.
  • Attend POCC conference annually with Executive Director of Community and Belonging and serve as advisor for student cohort at SDLC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with advanced degree in education, social sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion work, preferably in an educational setting with girls.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and issues facing girls and young women.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Thoughtful and reflective listener with high emotional intelligence.
  • Creative and flexible problem-solver.
  • Committed to fostering a supportive, welcoming environment for all members of the school community.

Beyond classroom instruction, we fully embrace the teacher/coach model at The St. Paul’s Schools and are excited about the vital role our faculty play in our community.  We are particularly eager to meet candidates with coaching experience and/or those who can demonstrate initiative and serve as mentors and program leads in a variety of significant ways outside of the classroom. Faculty members also collaborate on additional supervisory responsibilities and shared duties that enrich the school environment.

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held.  For this opportunity, our salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 annually.   Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.  In addition, full-time team members gain access to our robust benefits package designed to support your well-being, inside and outside of work.
