Middle School Science Instructor

Position Overview:
Episcopal School of Jacksonville is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, collegial, and versatile Middle School instructor for grades seven and eight for the 2025-2026 school year. The most competitive candidates will have experience and a demonstrated interest in teaching Middle School Science courses. Candidates should be equally passionate about their subject(s) and students and have particular interest and experience in middle school education.

Contribution to the broader school community, through such means as academic advising, supervisory duties, and coaching or sponsoring of extracurricular programs, is expected of all community members.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or an appropriate field of study from a four-year college or university, or post-graduate work in subject matter; an advanced degree is preferred.
Three years of teaching experience in Middle School Science in an independent school setting is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Mastery of the content and skills central to the teaching of Earth and Space Science and/or Physical Science, including experience in lab safety procedures, and maintaining and supervising the use of laboratory equipment and chemical substances with care.
Passion for the teaching of science and an enthusiasm for working with Middle School students in a mission-centered learning environment.
Commitment to learner-centered practices.
Commitment to and engagement in collaborative work to achieve both department-specific and school-wide goals.
Deep and thorough knowledge of the subject matter of courses taught and a growth mindset in seeking and taking advantage of opportunities for continued learning and professional growth in your field at Episcopal.
Desire to contribute to our community beyond the classroom, including through service as an Academic Advisor, sponsorship of extracurricular programs, coaching, attendance at community events, and participation in off-campus and overnight trips.
Evidence of building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Proficiency in using learning technology, and in particular with the core Google Suite products.
Lifelong investment in learning and growth.
