DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
Episcopal Day School, a PreK-8 co-educational, independent day school established in 1944 and located in Augusta, Georgia, seeks a passionate, experienced, and nurturing Second-Grade Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. We seek a dedicated educator with strong teaching and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices, and a commitment to research-based teaching approaches. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with second-grade students and fostering a supportive, stimulating, and emotionally responsive learning environment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct, differentiated instruction for all students in a full-day program, focusing on collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Assess and determine the developmental stages of each child through observation and discussion
- Set appropriate limits and guidelines for children both individually and in group settings
- Recognize families as partners in the educational process
- Create and implement lessons in alignment with the school expectations and curricular guidelines using Singapore Math, TCI Science, and CKLA curriculum.
- Identify, select, and create instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and needs.
- Evaluate student growth and progress.
- Implement clear and consistent classroom management strategies focused on student social-emotional needs
- Respect the confidentiality of children and their families
- Actively support the mission and strategic plan of the school
- Communicate and partner effectively with students, families, teachers, and other professionals
- Model professional and ethical standards when working with students, families, and colleagues
- Embrace ongoing professional growth opportunities and processes based on research-driven standards and practices.
- Attend all required professional development and school meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in education
- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate curriculum.
- Proficiency in implementing research-based literacy and math programs.
- Ability to integrate technology meaningfully into the learning process.
- Knowledge of project-based learning and inquiry-driven instruction.
- Effective classroom management strategies that support a positive learning environment.
- Ability to foster a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a teaching team, specialists, and administrators.
- Passion for teaching young learners with enthusiasm and creativity.
- Growth mindset and commitment to professional development.
- Dedication to fostering a love of learning in all students.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Current teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level, preferably in second grade.
PAY & BENEFITS
