The Church Farm School is an independent boarding and day school for boys in grades 9-12 in the Episcopal tradition. Founded in 1918 and located in Exton, PA, Church Farm School prepares a diverse group of boys with academic ability and good character to lead productive and fulfilling lives by making a college preparatory education financially accessible. POSITION DESCRIPTION

CFS is seeking organized, creative, mature and energetic individuals to live in and help supervise a small dormitory of multi-ethnic high school students for an immediate or soon-to-be-available position. Candidates must have completed or be in the final semester of their undergraduate degree. Master or Doctoral students are a plus.

This is a part-time, entry-level position particularly well-suited for individuals pursuing a career in education, counseling or social work. The primary job requirement is to support our scholars, encourage them to be their best selves and to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment in the cottage. You will assist the other adult resident with supervising a cottage dormitory of 15-18 students. You and the other adult resident will each be on duty two weekdays per week from 3 pm to 8 am and every other weekend from Friday at 3 pm until Monday at 8 am. On the days/weekends you are not on duty you can pursue an advanced degree or explore additional financial opportunities like coaching, substitute or PT teaching or fulfilling practicum hours.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Must Have:

  • A minimum of a BA or BS degree (or working toward one).
  • Willingness and flexibility to work a variety of days/hours across nine months per year on-campus.
  • Current Driver’s License and willingness to drive nine-seat passenger vans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suites.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.

Strongly Prefer:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing young people.
  • Experience as a student teacher, TA and/or RA.
  • Coaching experience and/or experience coordinating extracurricular activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand and welcome the challenge of supervising adolescent boys.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to support the school’s mission, entire program and core values (respect, responsibility, integrity and brotherhood) through time dedication, personal example, actions and attitude.
  • Cultivate and consistently maintain hospitable relationships with students, families and members of the CFS community.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with CFS students, adults and parents.
  • Support the Residential Life/Social Emotional Learning curriculum by facilitating discussion groups and implementing lesson plans.
  • Promote and develop a sense of community, collegiality and cooperation within the cottage and around the school.
  • Manage the cleanliness of common areas and student rooms within the cottage and around the school.
  • Mentor all students and guide student leaders, especially cottage prefects.
  • Aid students in their academic preparation by helping them develop organizational and study skills.
  • Actively participate in weekend activities, on and off campus, including community service projects and transportation support when you are on duty.
  • Manage weekend and vacation forms as well as transportation requests for cottage/dormitory residents.
  • Attend scheduled meetings.
  • Assist students in fostering an appreciation and respect for differences in individuals.
  • Support the spiritual development of boys within the school’s Chapel program.
  • Promote self-discipline and responsible decision-making among the students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Includes an entry-level, 12-month salary; a private room or apartment; three meals a day when school is in session; and benefits including health insurance, 401k, tuition assistance (after 1 year) and over 125 days off for fall, winter, spring and summer breaks. A $500.00 allowance will be paid to each new full-time Faculty or Cottage Faculty staff the first pay following acceptance of your appointment contingent upon the school’s completion of the background check process.
