Director of Communications

Christ School is seeking a Director of Communications to lead a four-person Communications Office. The Director of Communications coordinates, leads, and strategizes all school communications and marketing efforts. This person will work closely with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, and the Director of Admission to ensure consistency, efficiency, and coordination in all areas of the school.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience and the ability to manage a team
  • Proficiency in written, verbal, and organizational tasks
  • Familiarity with marketing and communications strategies and principles
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to quickly adapt
  • Experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other related software
  • Experience with website content management systems (Drupal experience a plus)
  • Experience with email management software and email best practices (Mailchimp experience a plus)
  • A philosophical alignment with Christ School’s core values, history, and ethos

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the vision and strategic direction of Christ School marketing and communications
  • Lead a team of three Communications Office members to plan, coordinate, and execute school emails, publications, advertising, website, social media, brand identity, and other communication-related products
  • Collaborate between all school departments, ensuring consistency in messaging, timing, and more
  • Develop and manage the Communications Office annual budget
  • Oversee website maintenance, website updates, build landing pages, and monitor website analytics for user experience problems and areas of improvement
  • Develop strategy and oversee management of social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Working with the Director of Publications, Advancement Office, and Admission Office, manage the planning, production, printing, and mailing of school publications, including biannual magazine, admission materials, fundraising materials, and more
  • Budget for and manage relationships with third-party photographers, videographers, and graphic designers
  • Develop print, display, and digital advertising strategies. Purchase domestic print ads and execute targeted digital advertising campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, Google Search, and YouTube. Work with third-party ad agencies for targeted digital international advertising.
  • Advise and collaborate with the Head of School on key external and internal communications including press releases, letters to constituents, and more
  • Plan, write, and send all email communications to parents, alumni, students, board of trustees, faculty, and staff, including newsletters, press releases, school news, and more
  • Present to the Advancement & Communications Committee of the Board of Trustees
  • Strategize for and encourage the professional development of Communications Office staff members
